According to 1st. Lt. Brian Postma with the Michigan State Police, the perimeter has been pulled in slightly, and search teams are going in to try and flush out Robinson. Robinson has not been spotted since 5:30 p.m. May 24, but the department believes he is still in the area, and have spotted bare footprints on trails in the area.

Arenac County Undersheriff Don McIntyre told the Independent the sheriff's department is still "at the same status," and that the escaped inmate is still loose. Law enforcement officials are still in the field, searching for him.

Original article as follows:

HOUGHTON LAKE — An inmate being transported to Arenac County by the Arenac County Sheriff’s Department escaped May 21 with a deputy’s gun near M-55, west of I-75.

The inmate is 29-year-old Everett Alan Robinson, who was last seen wearing orange clothing, and was still on the loose as of press time Tuesday, May 22. The sheriff’s department was transferring Robinson back to Roscommon after bringing him to the Arenac County district court, according to Arenac County Sheriff James Mosciski.

“We had a writ from the (district) court to bring him to our court for a home invasion charge,” Mosciski said. “Our officer was taking him back to Roscommon.”

While heading back to Roscommon, Robinson reportedly overpowered the Arenac sheriff’s deputy, stealing the deputy’s gun and the transport vehicle at approximately 9:20 a.m. Monday, May 21. The vehicle was later located, but Robinson is still on the loose.

Mosciski said the deputy attacked was shaken up, but was otherwise fine.

According to the Department of Corrections, Robinson is 5 feet, 10 inches tall, weighs 212 pounds, and has brown hair and hazel eyes. Officials are currently searching for the man.

The Arenac County Sheriff’s Department is leading the search, while the Michigan State Police post in Houghton Lake has an incident command sergeant on site. Mosciski said a perimeter, eight miles by eight miles, had been set up using officers from other law enforcement agencies as well, such as the Roscommon, Crawford, and Ogemaw sheriff’s departments, and the Department of Natural Resources.

Mosciski said canine units and a helicopter had joined in the search for Robinson.
