Eagle Spikers outlast Wolverines
TWINING -- In a hard fought match, Arenac Eastern emerged with the victory, defeating North Star League rival AuGres-Sims 3-games-to-2 in high school volleyball action Tuesday, Sept. 15.
"Both teams played hard with strong serves and long volleys," AE coach Hannah Neil said. "It came down to game-five to see who was going to take the set."
The host Eagles won the first (25-10) and third (25-23) games (25-23), the Wolverines won games two (25-19) and four (25-21), setting up a fifth-and-deciding showdown for the match.
And the Eagles came out on top, downing the Wolverines 15-7.
Erin Ecker led the Eagles attack with seven service aces, four kills, six digs and 30 assists.
Sara Wenkel had four aces and 24 assists, Heather Norton had four aces and 17 assists, Tiffany Miracle two aces and 16 assists, Maze Mahon two aces and seen assists, Maddie Forshee 13 assists, Courtney Pashnik 11 assists, and Kaylee Wilson seven assists.
