LINCOLN TOWNSHIP — A two-car wreck that was reported at approximately 8 a.m. on Oct. 3 looked much more serious than it turned out to be. Preliminary results of the accident, according to Sheriff Ronald Bouldin, show that it occurred when Sharon Bushway, 53, of Alger, was turning from the I-75 off ramp on M-61 in a sports utility vehicle and collided with an Arquette’s Concrete truck driven by Jared Bender, of Omer. “It seems the vehicle (driven by Bushway) was out past the line,” Bouldin said, adding that Bender told officers he swerved to avoid contact but was unsuccessful. “The evidence supports his statement that he tried to avoid the accident.” However, both vehicles suffered significant damage, as the vehicles collided head-on. But neither driver was injured extremely seriously. “He (Bender) was not taken to the hospital,” Bouldin said, adding he was checked on scene by paramedics and allowed to drive off. Bushway, however, was transported to St. Mary’s of Michigan Standish Hospital via Arenac County Mobile Medical Response (MMR) and later transferred to St. Mary’s of Saginaw. Kenneth Santa, Media Manager at St. Mary’s of Saginaw reported Bushway to be in stable condition.
