Dinner to benefit Haiti orphanages

A spaghetti dinner will be held in Standish to help raise money for Foundation for Children in Need, to help needy children in five orphanages, one which was recently destroyed in the Haiti earthquake.

The dinner will be held at the Granton Inn on Monday, Jan. 25, from 4-7 p.m. According to Karissa Mielke, who is helping organize the event, there will be a bake sale and 50/50 drawing as well. She said all donations will go directly to Foundation for Children in Need.

Tickets may be purchased in advance for $5 for adults, and $3 for children age 10 and under. Tickets purchased at the door will be $6 for adults, and $3 for children.

Mielke said the money goes entirely to the orphanages and children, for food, water, clothing, medical needs, and now likely to repair the damaged orphanages. She said Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere.
