Race organizer Josette Rang makes a few announcements before the 5K begins.

It was a wet and rainy morning during the Depot Days 5K for Juvenile Diabetes Research Oct. 5, but that did not deter the large group of runners and walkers who packed downtown Standish for the race. Racers took off from the US-23 and Cedar Street intersection, and followed a route that wound through the city streets, ending on South Forest Street. The first male runner to finish the race was Ben Lentz, and the first female to finish was Heather Notter.
