STERLING — Deep River Township is seeking applicants to fill three positions including a trustee.

Township supervisor Robert Budz said the township needs a new supervisior to replace former trustee Kenneth Stawowy, who was elected Arenac County road commissioner.

“Right now we have three or four applications in,” Budz said. “We will make our decision at our next board meeting.”

The term for trustee runs until November 2012. Budz said he hopes the new trustee will have some experience with governmental issues, but someone with less experience can learn as they go.

“We need someone who can look over our bills and get information to the public,” he said. “But there is nothing wrong with (someone) who is willing to come in and do the work.”

Budz said the township also needs to fill its, two-year term, board of review member seat.

“We need someone who does not mind putting up with a little bit of grief,” he said.

Budz said that the board of review member reviews public complaints and figures out how legitimate they are.

“That person handles the errors and omissions, seeing if some taxes may be unjust and finding the solution,” he said. “They are there to serve the public.”

The township is also accepting bids for a caretaker and groundskeeper position.

“We just need someone to be in charge of watching and overseeing the pavilion, ball fields, and building,” Budz said.
