AuGres boys 0-1 after road loss in Alcona

LINCOLN–ALCONA — The AuGres-Sims boys’ basketball team trailed by merely four points after the third quarter, but were outscored 30-19 in the final period and ended up losing to Lincoln-Alcona 75-60.

Lady Spartans bested by Essexville-Garber

PINCONNING — A double-double for Casey Vieau wasn’t enough to lift the Spartans against Essexville-Barger on Dec. 8.

Despite outscoring EG in the second and fourth quarters, Pinny couldn’t rise above a nine-point deficit after the first quarter, which grew when the Spartans were outscored by ten points in the third period.

Vieau recorded 13 points and ripped down 16 rebounds – a team high in both stats.

McBain hands SSC girls first loss

MCBAIN — The road was harsh to the Standish-Sterling Central girls’ basketball team on Dec. 8, as the girls suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of McBain.

McBain handily defeated the Panthers 53-28. SSC is now 2-1.
