Cruisers to host 17th annual Cruise Night and Car Show
AUGRES — The 17th annual Rock-N-Roll Weekend Cruise Night, hosted by the AuGres Cruiser Car Club will be rolling through AuGres Saturday, July 24, and a classic car show will be held Sunday, July 25.
Cruisers Treasurer Deb Norton said the lineup for the cruise will begin at 3 p.m. in front of the AuGres-Sims School on Michigan Avenue. The cruise will begin at 5:15 p.m. and will travel 13 miles, ending at the AuGres Riverfront Park.
“It’s a great family event.” Norton said. “It’s something for the community to get involved in.”
She said Saturday the event will feature a live band, and feature a burn-out contest for the first time.
“The burn-out contest will be held inside the baseball diamond across from the pavilion,” Norton said.
She said the pavilion was built and donated to the city by the Cruisers.
General admission for the cruise is $5, and free for children five and younger and for the first 200 cars entered into the cruise.
Norton said last year there were around 350 cars in the cruise.
The classic car show held Sunday, July 25, will be free, and feature games for children and adults.
Norton said registration for the car show begins Sunday at 8 a.m. and concludes at noon.
“Dash plaques will be awarded to the first 150 cars registered,” she said.
There will be 25 classes of cars in the car show and an awards presentation will be held at 3 p.m.
“It’s fun for the whole family, and if you’re a car enthusiast, you will have a great time,” Norton said.
