STANDISH — The bid for the replacement of two boilers in the Arenac County Building was recently awarded to Holtz Combustion of Saginaw for $83,863.

According to Arenac County Commissioner Chairman Michael Snyder, there were no bids made by companies within the county. He said the project will likely begin within the next week.

Snyder said that the completion date for the project set by Holtz Combustion is Oct. 15. He said that if the project is not finished by that day, the company will be charged $250 per day until work is completed.

According to Snyder, $108,000 has been set aside for the project, $48,500 of which come from a grant from the Saginaw-Chippewa Indian Tribe. He said a contingency fund of $6,135, included in the $108,000, has been set aside for any unforeseen costs. Engineer Linda Deyarmond, owner of Kovacs Engineering in AuGres, is being paid $5,500, plus $75 per visit to the county building and $0.60 per mile for travel fees.

“We’re looking forward to the efficient and effective heating of the court house by fall,” Snyder said.
