ARENAC COUNTY — Graduating seniors at Arenac Eastern, Au Gres-Sims and Standish-Sterling will receive their diplomas and flip their tassels this week during commencement exercises.
Arenac Eastern’s graduation ceremony will be held in the AE gymnasium Sunday, June 1 at 2 p.m. Valedictorian Cheyenne Lake and salutatorian Kelsey Lockwood will deliver speeches during commencement, according to Principal Bill Lake. English and communications teacher Mike Flore and Barb Hunter, who teaches English and Spanish, are also slated to deliver keynote presentations.
Au Gres-Sims graduates will be recognized Friday, May 30 in the high school gymnasium at 7:30 p.m. The valedictory address will be delivered by top senior Cora Pauly during the event. Language arts and physical education teacher Kevin Loga will serve as the keynote speaker during graduation.
Standish-Sterling Central’s commencement will be held Thursday, May 29 at 7 p.m. in the SSC gymnasium. Brief speeches will be given by the school’s five co-valedictorians — Chloee King, Seth Malcom, Arti Patel, Jeff Schlicker and Jacob Wright — and Sydney VanPetten will deliver the salutatory address. Due to the number of co-valedictorians, no keynote speech will be presented this year, according to SSC Secretary Linda Benchley.
