Chisholms to perform at SSC auditorium
STANDISH — Devin and Yvette Chisholm will be performing their sixth annual free concert, entitled Homeward Bound, at the Standish-Sterling Central High School auditorium on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m.
The concert is co-sponsored by the Standish-Sterling Community Education Center and the Northeast Michigan Arts Council (NEMA), and according to Gail Schmidt, NEMA executive director, has been well attended in the past.
According to Schmidt, the pair will likely be playing some religious songs and tunes from the likes of John Denver, Neil Diamond, and other performers of the 1970s.
The pair will accompany their songs with guitars and piano, and Schmidt said Devin frequently tells stories between songs about what they mean to him and the events in his life. In total, Schmidt expects them to play about 15 songs.
Schmidt said the Chisholms are active with other local musical groups.
“Devin directs the Choraleers, and they have been involved in other parts of the community as well,” Schmidt said, such as the local churches.
The concert is expected to last about two hours, including an intermission, and is followed with an afterglow where audience members can talk with the Chisholms.
