Child struck by van in Omer expected to recover

OMER — A 3-year-old boy was struck by a van in Omer Aug. 28, but is expected to make a full recovery after suffering non-life-threatening injuries.

According to Undersheriff Donald McIntyre, the accident occurred when the child wandered out into the roadway on Center Street near Clyde Street and was struck be a full-size Ford van driven by Frank Roux, 68, of Saginaw.

The child was transported to St. Mary’s of Michigan Standish Hospital via Arenac County MMR, McIntyre said.

The accident occurred at approximately 1:50 p.m. Thursday and remains under investigation.
