Big N’ Tall
My summer memories
Throughout my 25 years on this great green planet, I have been very fortunate.
Thanks to my parents, my two brothers, Mike and Jeff, and I have been to 49 out of 50 states.
Pretty much any state you can drive to, we went, we saw, and we conquered.
Almost every summer my parents got us out of the house and created memories on top of memories.
Though we flew to Alaska, and technically only drove through a few states, I could go on for pages, and pages, hours upon hours telling endless stories of our family adventures.
From the Golden Gate on the West Coast to Myrtle Beach on the East and everything in between, it feels like we were there.
Traveling with my family in a cramped compact van for hours really did get annoying sometimes.
With me and my brothers endlessly bickering nonstop during some of the eight-hour days in the van, I am not sure how they are still alive, but I can honestly speak for all of us in saying that the days of our marathon trips are days that we will never forget.
Oh, the sights we got to see!
Now I know that there are a lot of people that haven’t left this state, this county, and in some cases their homes, sometimes for good reasons.
But for those who aren’t deathly sick, or physically limited, get off your butt and get out there!
This country has so many beautiful sights to see, and so many memories to be made.
Many parents, and children alike may not even want to think about spending a lot of time in the car with each other, but the thing is that no matter what, long road trips bring a family together.
Now with both of my brothers living with their girlfriends, and I with my wife, while my parents travel the country like gypsies in their motor home, I find myself missing the days of family trips.
Though my wife and I try to travel as much as we can, I can’t wait to have kids of our own so I can finally be the one that opens their eyes to the great natural wonders of Michigan and the United States.
Bad economy or not, family comes first, and I can’t wait for our first family trip.
