Au Gres man killed in motorcycle accident

ARENAC TWP. — An Au Gres resident was killed in a motorcycle accident in the early hours of Saturday, July 13.

According to Undersheriff Don McIntyre, at approximately 2:21 a.m., Clifton Abbott Jr., 33, of Au Gres was riding a motorcycle eastbound on Wyatt Road toward US-23 when he allegedly left the road and collided with rocks in a ditch.

McIntyre said Mobile Medical Response and deputies were dispatched, and Abbott was pronounced dead at the scene. McIntyre said speed is believed to be a factor, and the accident is still under investigation at this time.

The accident appeared to involve only the one vehicle, and Abbott did not appear to be wearing a helmet, McIntyre said.
