Area football teams didn't have much luck Friday in the opening round of the MHSAA football playoffs. the notable exception was Standish-Sterling, which dominated Reed City in every phase of the game in moving to 10-0 with a 44-6 defeat of the Coyotes. Above, Mark Lorence's 31-yard touchdown catch was his second of the game and gave the Panthers a 21-0 lead early in the second quarter.
