Move into second place in NSL

AUGRES — AuGres-Sims moved into sole possession of second place in the North Star League on Tuesday with a 51-25 defeat of visiting Mio AuSable.

The Wolverines, who led 20-14 at the half, broke the game open with a 15-3 run in the third quarter.

"We played awesome, especially in the second half," said AGS coach Gordie Ostrander. "We got everyone a chance to play, and that kept it a little closer for awhile, but our full court press finally got to them."

Emily Lutz scored 14 points and had 10 steals and six assists, while Tasha Trombley added 10 points and 10 rebounds and Adriane Swaffield had 10 points.

Kelsie Blamer scored six for Mio (2-6, 1-4).

The Wolverines (7-3, 4-1 NSL) travel to Arenac Eastern (7-2, 4-2) for a key league match on Friday.
