Au GRES — Former students of Au Gres-Sims took to the school’s football field Oct. 13 to participate in a fundraising alumni football game for the school’s athletics program.
According to co-organizer Chris Redburn, the event raised approximately $600 for the school, as alumni played against alumni in a game Redburn said went touchdown for touchdown.
“The game went as well as it possibly could considering the rain,” Redburn said. “It was not too cold, but very wet.”
“The players had more fun than anyone of course,” Redburn added. “They all complimented us on how well organized it was.”
Players were divided into a maroon and a white team, and Redburn said the white team was victorious in a close 24-20 game. Bret Dilman and AGS Principal Chad Zeian performed referee duties during the game, while more than 20 alumni returned to the field to play.
Redburn said many of the players had expressed interest in “strapping on the pads” again next year.
