FAIRVIEW — Arenac Eastern scored its 10th win of the season Monday — it's most since 2000 — with a 46-34 road victory at Fairview.

The Eagles led 24-22 at the half, but turned up the defensive heat in the second half to hold Fairview's Eagles to just 12 points.

"I told the kids at halftime we allowed as many points to them as we had the entire game the first time we played them," said AE coach Butch Beckham. "They really needed to tighten up the 'D', and they really did in the second half."

Eastern survived on the road despite Fairview not being whistled for any fouls in the first half (AE had just four) and making just 3-of-7 at the line for the game.

Beckham said both teams were prepared for what the other was going to do.

"They were ready for us, there's no doubt," he said. "Their defense is very aggressive, and if we hadn't have been ready for that we wouldn't have won."

Chelsea Dery had 17 points, 11 rebounds and four assists to lead AE (10-2, 7-2 NSL), with Briana Dery adding 12 points, nine rebounds and five steals. Danielle Jurek added six assists.

Kayla Weaver had 12 points for Fairview (5-6, 3-5), with Kendra Handrich scoring nine.
