HILLMAN — Arenac Eastern turned in another solid performance Tuesday, but North Star League runner-up Hillman was able to hang on for a 66-56 victory over the Eagles.

A rough stretch in the second quarter proved costly for the Eagles, who otherwise went toe-to-toe with the 16-3 Tigers.

"Losing is a little easier this year since we aren't getting blown out like we did," said AE coach Bob Morgan. "However, it's not a win.

"Once again I saw a lot of hustle and the kids didn't give up."

Devon Shumaker led Hillman with 18 and Myron Tracey added 12.

Caleb Whitney led the Eagles (2-17, 1-12) with 18 points, including AE's first 10 of the game, while Graham Morgan added 12 points and 17 rebounds and John Chmura had nine points.
