AE boys lose NSL contest in Posen

POSEN — The Eagles of Arenac Eastern continue to look for their wings as they hit a two-game skid with the loss to conference foe Posen Thursday night.

The Eagles shot 42 percent from the field on 18 of 43 shooting but it wasn't enough to overcome an array of turnovers and an off-night on defense as the Vikings went on to take the game 75-64.

"(We committed) 30 turnovers and our defense killed us," AE coach Bob Morgan said of the loss.

Morgan said even with the uncharacteristic play, the Eagles had an opportunity to steal the game.

"We were down by three with two minutes to play and then we had 4 straight turnovers," he said.

AE was led by Kyle Zobel and Graham Morgan with 16 point apiece. Kevin Kovacs put up 11 as well.

Scott Couture and Shane Hentkowski put up 15 each for the Vikings and David Kerr added 10.

The Eagles fall to 2-2, 1-2 on the season. They'll see the Oscoda Owls in the first round of the Whittemore-Prescott holiday tournament on Dec. 22 at about 5:30 p.m.

The Vikes (2-2, 1-2) hit a two-game winning streak after starting out the season 0-2. They currently sit at fourth-place in the North Star League and they'll travel to Brimley on Jan. 2 for a weekend game.
