Standish-Sterling Central HS band members Aaron Colamarino, Cherie Scheall and Samantha Poirier auditioned and were accepted into this year's 2009 District 9 All Star Band. The students had two days of rehearsals and put on a concert on Jan. 17 at Standish-Sterling Central High School.
Former Standish resident Ralph Brabaw will celebrate his 100th birthday on June 1, 2009 with an open house celebration at the Lee Township Hall, Midland County, from 3-5 p.m. on May 31. Ralph was born in Whittemore in 1909 and lived in the Standish area for 20 years, from the 1970s until the 1990s, after spending much of his life in Midland and before relocating to Midland, where he currently lives.
